Video: Aberdeen Approves Stricter Curfew

ABERDEEN, Miss. – (WCBI) Aberdeen teenagers soon will have to pay closer attention to their watches, or it could cost them and their parents a lot more money.

Aldermen have approved reducing the city’s curfew by 30 minutes and increasing fines significantly.

Police Chief Henry Randle has been pushing the the change after a string of incidents involving teenagers, some with guns. Under the plan, teens under 18 would have to be in at 9:30 p.m. on weeknights and 11:30 p.m on weekends.

The first violation would carry a $100 fine and the second, $200. The fine currently is $25. The ordinance will be published next week and take effect in late April, according to City Clerk Jackie Benson.
