ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Aberdeen Elementary School unveiled their new playground, thanks to the PTO and Home Depot.

The total cost of the playground is around $9,000 but Home Depot donated some supplies and mulch, helping cut down on the cost.

The PTO held several community fund raisers to help raise the money needed to pay for the equipment.

School administrators say the kids are already enjoying their new toy.

“Their recess time is their outlet to just have fun. We are all about instruction here at Aberdeen Elementary. So when they hit this playground, they are ready to run and have some fun. So the new playground has been a huge hit,” said Assistant Principal Kristen Fondren.

The PTO also built a new book shelf in the library that will be stocked with books soon.
