ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – A new piece of equipment has the Aberdeen Air Force Junior ROTC’s eye on the future. The unit has been testing their recently acquired Phantom 2 Vision Plus drone. The drone has a hi-definition Go-Pro video camera. The Cadets flew the drone Tuesday. Instructors believe the high flying piece of equipment can serve the students and the community.

“It’s general use would be recon, or, in this case, as we’ve been using it out here in this nice little field on this wonderful day, we’ve been using it to take pictures and survey agricultural landscaping sites.”

“Economic development’s a highly competitive business, and we have to do what we can to separate ourselves from the competition. By using the drone, and getting the latest aerial photos, it’ll allow us to separate ourselves from that competition.”

The group hopes to host an air expo at the Monroe County Airport in April.
