ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — The city of Aberdeen takes another step to improving the health and well being of its residents.

A team from the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, the USDA, and the Appalachian Regional Commission kicked off a two day workshop Tuesday night.

They are working with local leaders and business owners on how to incorporate healthier food options, revitalize the community, and increase overall quality of life for residents of the Monroe County town.

Ideas passed around the dinner table included a farmer’s market, the construction of a nutrition center, and community gardens.

The workshops wrap up Wednesday evening.
