TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A former White House staffer who now works for an NBA team encourages more people to consider adoption.

The annual “Celebration of Adoption” banquet, a fundraiser for the Tupelo based “New Beginnings and Family Services” was held Thursday evening.

Hundreds were on hand to hear from local families who have adopted children from countries around the world.

Guest speaker was Lucas Daniel Boyce, who is director of business and legislative affairs for the Orlando Magic.

Boyce was adopted as an infant and says his story proves adoptive parents impact lives that can impact generations.

“In a world that is full of a lot of turmoil, economic uncertainty, terrorism, threat of security, Ebola, what’s going on in the Middle East, the decisions we make here tonight can echo across not just this community but across the world.”

Boyce was signing copies of his autobiography, “Living Proof: From Foster Care to the White House and the NBA.”
