JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) -The Mississippi college board met for two hours Friday in a special called meeting but left with no resolution to the controversial decision to fire Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones.

IHL members have received a backlash of criticism after it was announced Jones’ contract would not be renewed in September.

Jones and IHL Commissioner Jim Borsig and others have been trying to negotiate a deal, with no luck.

Board members say they will not make a public comment until the situation is resolved.

Thousands of alumni, faculty, students and major donors have all protested the decision.
