COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The Columbus Community Outreach program brings together local agencies to discuss the problem of homelessness…and talk about solutions.
The session, called “On Common Ground: Building Partnerships Through Networking” hosted representatives from CONTACT Helpline, Community Counseling, and SallyKate Winters about their efforts to combat homelessness and the resources they provide for at-risk residents.
“The goal is to get them from a homelessness state to stability,  and I believe that’s the goal for all the agencies here. We want to start with housing, employment and education and just work our way through the process of getting the citizens what they need.”

According to the Columbus Outreach Program, there are more than 400 evictions issued monthly in Columbus and Lowndes County alone.
