AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) — Some future rocket scientists from North Mississippi are preparing for a big competition.

That’s why a group from Amory High School launched a rocket Tuesday night.

They’re trying to raise $20,000, so they can compete in the American Rocketry Challenge in Washington, D.C. next month.

100 teams nationwide are invited to the challenge.

Amory High was the only school from Mississippi invited. They’ll face off against teams from across the country.

The 12 students have set up a GoFundMe account for their trip.

You can donate on https://www.gofundme.com/ahsrockets anytime before May 10.

You can check out the team’s website at ahsrocketteam.wix.com.
