COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – When Lowndes County students head back to school this Fall, they’ll have a new learning tool.

The school district is beginning Phase Two of its “1:1 Digital Learning Initiative”. Kindergarten through second grade students will receive iPad Minis. Third through fifth graders will be issued iPads, and Middle and High School students will get MacBooks.

School leaders consider it an investment in the students’ future.

“It is funds through the district, and it is just to create another piece of the puzzle for students when they graduate our schools. That they are digital citizens, and have that literacy in the arena. We think it puts them a step up in their education.”

The One to One initiative will cost the district about three point five million dollars over four years
