AMORY, Miss. (WCBI)-With school almost out, one Mississippi organization is making sure kids stay safe this summer break.

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Service made a stop at East Amory Elementary School to help prevent and educate students on the importance of helmet safety.

Students were informed the proper way to wear the helmet then given one of their own.

The helmets are free to students. The fees collected from Mississippi DUI’s and moving violations are what go to help fund the helmets.

Since 2010, the organization has issued over 60,000 helmets for Mississippi kids.
