AMORY, Miss.(WCBI)–The new addition of an interactive splash pad at Frisco Park in Amory should be ready just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

Plans for this new attractive splash pad in downtown Amory has been on the drawing board for several months, its sure to be a hit, specially on a humid day.

“We are very excited that we are able to offer a splash pad scenario here for our citizens, especially our children for them to cool off on a hot day or to just enjoy watching maybe during a lunch break,” said Mayor Brad Blaylock/Amory.

For months and months heavy equipment and construction debris littered the entire area. Construction equipment and the digging which was an inconvenience to many is no longer there.

Finally there is no more hole in the ground at Frisco Park,” said Brad Blaylock.

With help from volunteers, funding from citizens and the city, and of course private donations; the park is already becoming an attractive spot. Thats in spite of a holdup due to a rainy fall and spring.

“Its taken us a while to get to where we are now but we are very happy that we are right here on the finish line,” said Brad Blaylock.

The project is now 98% done.

“We still have to install some benches and tables in areas of the park. Maybe some of our shaded areas and around the pad of course. And so we are hopeful that while children play parents can sit and enjoy watching their children play or maybe just come out on a nice day and enjoy the park itself,” said Brad Blaylock.
