AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s helped bring a lot of new business to downtown Amory. And tonight Amory Main Street celebrated it’s 10 anniversary with its annual meeting and awards banquet at Community Bank.
Amory Main Street has capitalized on Amory’s rich history including its connection to the railroad. Carol Knight is manager of Amory Main Street. She says it has been a good year.

“Our community has been growing over the past year and a half. And we’re so excited that we’ve added eight more businesses this year. The year before that we added twenty one. And we’re just excited for the town and for the small businesses and the merchants who are putting their time and money into our community.”

Knight says normally they name a volunteer of the year, but tonight they named Len and Jean Pinkley as volunteers of the decade for the outstanding work to better the community. Knight says Amory Main Street is getting ready for its fall fundraiser October 30th at Frisco Park. There will be plenty of fun activities for the family.
