COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Families who have lost a baby far too soon gathered to remember their “Angel Babies.”

Mothers, fathers and siblings came together to remember their babies by releasing pink and blue balloons into the sunset.

Each balloon had a special message written to their tiny loved ones.

The month of October is dedicated to raising awareness of the high number of still births, miscarriages and infant loss after only a few days of life.

Organizers say it is not a sad occasion… but rather a time to celebrate the little ones lives.

“But it’s not a sad occasion, I must say that, it’s not a sad occasion but it’s an outlet to let people know that we do celebrate the babies,” said Kantrina Bartker,” Angel Babies” support group organizer.

This was the first year for the remembrance ceremony, organizers plan to make it an annual event.
