TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -A Christmas tradition that helps kids have presents under the tree kicks off in Tupelo.

The first of several “Angel Trees” went up this afternoon in the food court at the Mall at Barnes Crossing.

People are encouraged to pick an “angel” off the tree, and buy presents for the child.

Each “Angel” tag lists the wish list of a boy or a girl, along with the appropriate clothes sizes.

“It’s a really great blessing to be able to see kids, the impact you have , to be a blessing to them, to share with them the real spirit of Christmas and the message of Christmas and give us an opportunity to share with them the reason for Christmas as well.”

Major Daniel expects Angel Tree will serve about 700 children in Northeast Mississippi this year.
