COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Monday marked the International Day of Peace, and the Annunciation Catholic School of Columbus honored the holiday, by making pinwheels.

“Pinwheels for Peace” is an art installation project, where Students decorate their own pinwheels and plant them outside by the school’s peace pole.

On the pinwheels, students write their thoughts on what living in peace means to them.

The school hopes that the spinning of the pinwheels in the wind will spread thoughts and feelings about peace throughout the country and the world.

“It’s just an outward representation that there is still peace in a sense, and we would like for there to be world peace, so this is just how we represent it and say our prayers to God that we will all be peaceful people.”
This is the fifth year in a row that the school has participated in the Pinwheels for Peace project.
