GATMANN, Miss. (WCBI) -A natural phenomenon that has caused a headache for weather forecasters and concerns for Alabama residents is being fixed. Crews started Thursday cutting down trees surrounding a weather radar site near Gattman.

In recent months, the grown trees began blocking part of the radar’s signal, posing problems forecasting storms coming into Lamar County and some spots in Monroe, Itawamba and Lowndes County. The military is paying the owner for the trees. The radar often couldn’t show severe storms.
