The ballot is approved for Mississippi’s U.S. Senate race in November. But it still has an asterisk by it for now.

The state Election Commission approved Republican Thad Cochran, Democrat Travis Childers and Reform Party candidate Shawn O’Hara on the November 4 ballot. But it noted Chris McDaniel’s challenge to the Republican runoff, which is scheduled for trial September 16. A ruling in that case could change the ballot.

Cochran has asked the challenge to be thrown out. That will be argued during a hearing Thursday.

The state had to approve a ballot so local circuit court clerks need ballots by September 10. Overseas and military absentee voting starts September 20.
