COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — As we approach Super Bowl Sunday and the big NFL Football showdown between The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, big screen television sets are flying off the shelves.

Foot traffic has been heavy, at least at one Friendly City store downtown. As representatives of sports media converge on and occupy Glendale, Arizona for the weekend Super Bowl Showdown, according to store manager Nicole Higgins people from all over North Mississippi have been known to frequent Cowboy Maloney’s before the big day.

“People come in, they walk right past the recliners. They walk right to the TV’s. They walk past the beds, past the washing machines, go straight to the tv’s. What the biggest you got, whats the biggest 4k you got, whats the biggest smart tv you got. You know everybody wants big,” said Christopher Tilley.Cowboy Maloney’s.

“No need to watch it on a little screen where it ain’t going to show as, it ain’t going to be that close to me. Watch it on a big screen, feels like I’m in the game. Want the sweat to fall on me. Ha, ha, ha,” said Norvell Jackson/Starkville Customer.

“The surround sound, if you want to hear the rumble, you want to hear you know hear the helmets clicking,” said Christopher Tilley.

Customers are opting for more of a natural viewing experience you get with new entertainment technology.

“These tv’s are basically bringing what you see in a movie theater to your home. Movie theater screen is very large. You know if a movie screen was 720p or 1080p the people wouldn’t watch movies cause it wouldn’t look good. Like I say this is just bringing that type of clarity into your home,” said Christopher Tilley.

Nowadays fans want to see the bumps on the football, the grass on the field, and yes the perspiration coming from the athletes during Super Bowl 49.

“You can see the picture clearer, specially if it’s a smart TV. You can control it with your phone or anything you want to. You don’t have to leave off the couch to watch the Superbowl game. You control the volume and everything with a smart TV,” said Regenia Robinson/West Point Customer.

Plasma flat screen sets are being phased out. They are considered to be old technology. The more smarter and serious sports fan is opting for the latest and biggest screen appliance on the market these days.
