CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Chickasaw County deputies uncover a string of stolen items from several states.

Victor Huffman is facing numerous charges, including burglary, grand larceny, and receiving stolen property in Chickasaw County.

Investigators say he could face several other charges in Clay and Union Counties. They also believe some of the stolen goods were from Arkansas and Tennessee.

Everything from vehicles to tractors, along with chainsaws, lawn mowers, and trailers have been recovered.

Deputies have confirmed at least six stolen items but there’s more evidence to examine in the coming weeks.

The investigation began Sunday night when deputies say Huffman ran law enforcement when they tried to pull him over. He then crashed a Jeep and hid in the woods. He was eventually arrested on Monday.

A search warrant of Huffman’s property uncovered the items Tuesday.

“Now we’re still going through all the property trying to identify where it came from, who it belongs to. A lot of the VIN numbers on the vehicles and stuff had been altered and mutilated. So we’re having to do a lot of checking on that, up under them and on the motors. And like I say, right now we’re just trying to go through everything and get it to the rightful owner,” said Chickasaw County Chief Deputy James Meyers.

Deputies say other arrests could be made.

In a couple of weeks deputies will allow people with a stolen property report to examine the items.
