AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a very special day for 100 area motorcyclists.

They gathered at Amory’s Frisco Park for First Annual 8-Ball Memorial Ride.

8-ball is the nickname for Jerry Evans, who was killed in a motorcycle accident last year.

Evans was one of the driving forces behind raising money for the Eldridge Children’s home in Alabama.

His widow Barbara Evans says she is very grateful that so many people took part in this ride.

“It’s awesome,” Evans said. “We buried him a year ago today. He was killed on the 16th. and he meant alot to alot of people. And the bikers loved him. And he had a wonderful heart. He was a good Christian man. So I think all of this says alot for 8-ball.”

After riding into Alabama, the bikers circled back to Amory and enjoyed a cookout and fellowship at Frisco Park.

They say they want to make this an annual event.
