Video: Bruce Mayor Vetoes 60 Percent Pay Raise

BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) — Bruce aldermen deserve a pay raise, just not a 60 percent bump.

At least that’s what Mayor Rudy Pope thinks.

The mayor has vetoed the pay raise aldermen gave themselves two weeks ago. Pope said the $150 increase to $400 per month is excessive. He says he could live with $50 per month if aldermen want to bring the issue up again.

The subject may be part of budget talks Thursday night as aldermen try to cut away at a $260,000 deficit before a Sept. 15 budget deadline.
