STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Business leaders from Memphis to the Gulf Coast are getting a glimpse of C Spire’s new Starkville facility.

“Just giving our customers and our prospects an opportunity to see the center as it’s under various stages of construction. We’ve got a number of businesses and educational institutions who are likely tenants of this facility who are here to check it out,” said Caraway, Senior VP of Enterprise Markets.

C Spire executives, architects and contractors held a briefing and tour of the 5.6 acre site showing construction and progress for the initial phase of the project. Industry leaders say the new facility will be the premiere data center in the southeast.

“It will be the finest facility of its type within a 250 mile radius of Starkville and one of only 52 in the country that is certified as tier 3 or higher. It will be an economic driver for Mississippi, giving companies another reason to relocate to this region,” said Caraway.

“All the electrical power that we have. The data center will provide 5 9’s of up time and capability, air conditioning, redundancy, electrical redundancy,” said Tad Hamilton, Vice President of IT for Cloud Services.

Construction for the center is also built to withstand extreme weather and violent winds, making it safe and secure for storing data.

“The city of Louisville and the hospital was hit, they were down and not operational. To be able to have a facility where that data could reside as a back up or a second system so that you can pick right up from where you left off and continue operations is very important,” said Hamilton.

Developers say Phase One should be completed by November. C Spire currently operates two other data centers in Mississippi: One in Ridgeland and the other in downtown Jackson.
