COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Temperatures are expected to be in the teens and single digits across North Mississippi later this week. Experts say it’s dangerous for people working out doors.

To try to protect workers, many employers are trying to limit outdoor work and move as much as possible indoors later in the week. Many employers like city and county road departments and public works crews say they will try to use the cold weather this week as a chance to get valuable maintenance work done that often gets pushed aside during better conditions.

“When the cold weather comes in, we’re preparing now, we make barricades in the shop. In the summer, you are really busy with road work, you don’t have time to do things like this. We might paint some dump trucks, work on stuff like that because when it’s real cold, you can’t get out on roads and work that much.”

Wind chills at times could be around zero Wednesday and Thursday.
