TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It was great year for the  Community  Development Foundation of Tupelo and Lee County.  There was a  sports theme at tonight’s 66th CDF annual meeting as it announced that it finished as  the top 10 organizations in the country for communities with under 150,000 people with its best year since 2007, with over 15 companies that have either expanded or created new jobs this year. David Rumbarger is President and CEO of CDF.

“Well it’s really based on the number of projects you’ve had this year and the number of jobs you’ve created,” said Rumbarger. “We’ve created a little more than $240 million of new capital investment and over $80 million of payroll for the next year in this community in this Tupelo-Lee County.”

Rumbarger says perhaps the biggest accomplishment of the year was the announcement that the Grammer Corporation, a German company is going to locate its U.S. headquarters in Tupelo and will create 650 new jobs in the five years. Rumbarger also announced that Shane Hooper of Success Learning has been named as the Chairman of the CDF for the coming year.
