Video: Child Injured in 3 Vehicle Crash on Highway 45 South

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — An 8 year old boy was airlifted after a three vehicle accident including an 18 wheeler on Highway 45 South. According to Corporal Criss Turnipseed of the Mississippi Highway, a white Buick Enclave, driven by 37 year old Melanie Sasser of Columbus was attempting a left hand turn when it was rear ended by a Blue Dodge Ram driven by 36 year old Anthony Gavin of Columbus. A northbound Peterbilt 18 wheeler, driven by 39 year old Robert McKenzie of Aberdeen, hit  one of the vehicles.

Two children were in the Buick. One child was airlifted to Tupelo with unknown injuries. The other child, a six year old boy, walked away from the crash uninjured.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
