TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at a Tupelo school are helping those less fortunate this holiday season. Since November, Tupelo’s Early Childhood Education Center, or ECEC, have brought in canned goods, as part of a food drive. The canned food will go to the “Helping Hands” food pantry which provides food to low income residents throughout the area.

Organizers say the youngsters are learning about service and they are also developing math skills through the program.

“Each class kept a count of their cans, and we counted, made tally marks, check lists, we had graphs out in the hallway to help show everybody our totals.

Students have collected more than 35 hundred canned goods for the food drive.
