Ackerman, Miss. (WCBI) — Choctaw County Supervisors believe they now have the company they want to manage their county owned hospital and nursing home. After months of meetings with potential companies, officials have selected Trilogy Health Care Services of Madison and it’s partner North Sunflower Medical Center.

Just before Choctaw County Supervisors went into a Friday executive session, concerned citizens who’d been monitoring health care situations left the meeting before supervisors emerged with their selection. The county has entered into a management agreement with Trilogy Health Care Services.

“Trilogy being over our hospital and the management and administration there. And then North Sunflower Management Company, they are going to work managing the nursing home and some of the revenue cycles and billing at our hospital,” said Chris McIntire, Choctaw County Supervisor.

“And there is a lot to do. A lot of, to do with provider numbers and setting up bank accounts and you know getting people in place. And we’re going to hit the ground running,” said Billy Marlow, Exec. Dir.-North Sunflower Medical Center.

After months of meetings with the community and potential companies, all that’s left now is shoring up the legal terms of the agreement. It will be officially signed on June 23rd. Supervisors are confident about their decision.

“We’ve gone to Ruleville Hospital in Sunflower County which is the North Sunflower group and also Tallahatchie County Hospital and looked at what they’ve done with those facilities. And really turned them around and made it a very good hospital for people to use,” said McIntire.

“We’ve gone from 1o million a year to 76 million a year at our hospital. Its been real successful,” said Marlow.

And they accomplished that over a 10 year period. County leaders and the people they serve are hoping and banking on much the same or even better.

“We’ve got a lot of good ideas, we can change some things and make it successful.” said Marlow.

Pioneer Health Services’ contract ends July 31st. Plans are to immediately remove their signs from the premises.
