ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — While people from all over are celebrating Christmas on Thursday, others are recognizing another event – their birthday.

WCBI caught up with some Christmas day babies on what they think about sharing their big day.

Those we spoke with love having their birthday on this special holiday.

“I think it has been a privilege and an honor to be a Christmas baby,” said Mary Carroll Sullivan. “That’s what I was taught all my life, that it was a blessing, so that’s how I ‘ve always felt.”

It’s a birthday that’s hard for people to forget.

“Just to be born on the day Christ was born on is just fabulous, and when I hand out my identification, everybody always says, ‘Oh, you’re a Christmas baby. You were born December the 25th,'” said Jennifer Edmond.

And even though their birthday is also a national holiday, their friends and family still make sure they get the attention they deserve.

“My parents always made sure I had some [presents] for my birthday, and Christmas,” Edmond said. “Even my grandparents.”

“You wake up in the morning, and Santa has been there, and that was always wonderful, and then in the afternoon we’d have birthday, so they were two separate events,” Sullivan said.

Both Edmond and Sullivan would still have birthday parties every year. Edmund’s on Christmas, Sullivan’s in June.

And now that they’re adults, they appreciate having a Christmas birthday even more.

“You have a whole season where people are joyful, and they’re thinking about what the meaning is behind Christmas, and it makes it even more special,” Sullivan said.

Jimmy Buffett and Humphrey Bogart are also Christmas day babies.
