UNDATED, Miss. (WCBI)-Legislation was passed in the Senate to merge the Clay County School district with West Point.

Wednesday (2-13-13), the Senate said ‘yes’ to the merger.

Now the bill is being considered in the house.

The Clay County District spends about 15 percent or more than $300,000 dollars a year on administrative cost compared to the 4 percent spent at an average school district.

Under the proposal the school board for the merged districts would be elected from the five supervisory districts.

The Clay County District now has one hundred and 25 students enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Older students already attend West Point.
