Video: Columbus Buys the Gilmer Inn

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – In some shape or form a hotel has stood at the corner of Fourth Street North and Main for over a century. That may soon come to an end.

The City of Columbus has bought the Gilmer Inn for $425,000.00

City attorney Jeff Turnage tells WCBI the building will be torn down. However, long range plans have not been finalized on what to do with the property.

Many years ago the Gilmer was bustling with guests, but it has suffered in recent years.

Closing will be on or before December first. Environmental studies will have to be done before the hotel is torn down.
