COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Call it a report card on schools. Tired of getting questions from constituents they can’t answer, the Columbus City Council wants to start a discussion with its appointed school board. The City Council wants a representative of the school board or interim superintendent Edna McGill to present an update to the council on everything from school events this year to projected budgets and academic ratings.

The request comes after a string of controversial school board meetings that have captured the public’s attention. Council members say they’d eventually like the updates to happen on a regular basis.
