COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus city leaders from nearly every department gathered for lunch Thursday. Officials met at Lion Hills Country Club. Councilman Kabir Karriem says their goal is to move Columbus forward through conversation.

Leaders from the Columbus Municipal School District to the Police Department gave an overview about the progress being made within their fields. The Golden Triangle Development Link also informed leaders about their partnership with the city.

“We have resolved our differences and the LINK is working hard to recruit retail to the area, as a matter of fact, I attended a retail recruitment trade show last week and we have a lot of good leads and we’re hoping that will materialize into new retail in the area,” said Brenda Latham, VP of Golden Triangle LINK.

Councilman Karriem says he hopes Thursday’s lunch brings a movement of progression and communication within all departments.
