Video: Columbus Exchange Club Does Lunch

COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–Columbus Exchange Club members wanting to drive home the idea of One Nation Under God held their ceremony Thursday during their noon luncheon.

Special guest and native of West Point Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Virginia Gail Swentkofske told event goers of just how the words “one nation under God” got into the Pledge of Allegiance.

Exchange club members are joining together to increase public appreciation for the important role religious faith and freed have played in our nation’s history.

“Ronald Reagan also said that if we don’t recognize that one nation under God and honor that, then we can no longer live up to our democratic ideas,” said Lt. Colonel Virginia Gail Swentkofske/Retired Air Force Officer.

Lt. Colonel Swentkofske was deployed in 2004 during the Battle of Fallujah and the first elections in Iraq.
