Video: Columbus Firefighters Utilize Controlled Burns for Training

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Every fire is different — that’s why firefighters train every chance they get.

Columbus firefighters got a chance this morning to practice on house fires during a controlled burn. This old house on Sixth Avenue North was a good opportunity for young firefighters to see how fires burn in different ways depending on materials, rooms and other conditions.

The city and fire department work with property owners to clear old homes while providing training opportunities.
