COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority has a board vacancy. Long-time board member Rusty Greene resigned his position at the board’s meeting tonight. Greene cited a conflict between his board position and his regular job as athletic director for Columbus city schools.

On the recreation board, Greene is technically the boss over assistant rec director Greg Lewis. But as athletic director, Greene technically works for Lewis, who is a Columbus school board member. Lewis also is expected to be a leading candidate to replaced retiring parks director Roger Short. The city council will have to name a replacement.
