Video: Columbus Man Serving 40 Years Denied Appeal

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A 20-year-old Columbus man serving 40 years for his role in a September 2011 home invasion robbery will remain behind bars.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals has denied Corey Lathan’s claims that he deserved a new trial because of prosecutors statements during closing arguments in September two years ago.

Lathan was convicted of forcing his way into the apartment of Karen Winter in September 2011, holding her at gunpoint and taking cash, computers and other items. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
