COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus parents get a chance to meet finalists for the city school district’s top education job.

The school board has narrowed the field of finalists, and will introduce them to the community during a public meeting July 1.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Cook Fine Arts Magnet School.

Last week and Monday, the board interviewed eight candidates from a pool of almost 60 original applicants before agreeing on the finalists.

Longtime Columbus and Lowndes County Educator Edna McGill has been serving as interim superintendent since last June.
