COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus property owners will see a slightly higher bill when they get their property tax bills this fall. The City Council approved a one point zero eight mill increase in the total property tax rate for city operations and city schools.  That’s about 11 dollars a year on a 100 thousand dollar home.

The increase includes financing for a five million dollar bond issue for street paving and sidewalks. That work could start in late October. A small decrease in the school tax rate offset some of the overall increase.
