Video: Columbus Seeks State Money to Refurbish Dilapidated Homes

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus could try once again to use state money to rebuild dilapidated homes. Today, State officials and Community Development Director Christina Berry gave councilmen a rundown of what it needed to do to apply for part of the four million dollar HOME program.

Last year, 68 communities applied but only 13 were granted.Columbus was rejected. The council has decided it will search for new sites. As many as five homes need to be in the same neighborhood, dilapidated, owner occupied and have a clear title.
