COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus will use tracking devices to make its public works department more efficient. The City Council approved the purchase of 16 GPS devices to place on public works vehicles to improve work assignments, monitor their use and keep up with employee travel. Council members say they hope they save money and cut down on abuse.

The devices could be installed by the end of the month.
