Mississippi State University, Miss. (WCBI) — Congressman Gregg Harper got a first hand look at how some Mississippi State students are changing how we could drive in the future. The Congressman stopped by campus this afternoon to see MSU’s EcoCAR Two team. MSU and 14 North American universities are participating in a three-year competition to redesign a Chevy Malibu, making it more fuel efficient and safe, while maintaining performance. Each team has an engineering, business and communication group. Harper believes the students are up to the challenge.

“They have other classes,” said Rep. Harper. “They have other things they have to do in their life, but they have devoted really all of their time it seems to design something that will represent the university and our state well.”

The U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors is sponsoring the competition.
