STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The new Starkville-Oktibbeha County Consolidated School District began its first school year on Monday.

Students from East and West Oktibbeha County learned their new class schedules and teachers at Armstrong Middle and Starkville High.

Teacher Markell Bishop says believes it will be a good year for the new students.

“It’s going to be a successful year, even though they are coming from the county. I mean, it’s nothing different. School is school. Our rules and expectations may be a little bit different from the county, but other than that they are the same. I think they will do well here once they get the feel for it, after this year,” said Bishop.

With the consolidation, Armstrong Middle had a record number of student enrollment for the first day.
