CORINTH, MISS. (WCBI) -With the stroke of four pens, the Corinth-Alcorn Industrial Park becomes certified fiber ready.

The months long project means fiber based, high speed internet is now available at the facility.

“A lot of businesses, before they relocate, they want to know the type of communications infrastructure they will be able to connect to, and fiber services allow them the latest in communications technology,” said Mayo Flynt, president of AT & T Mississippi.

As Director of “The Alliance” Gary Chandler is in charge of recruiting businesses to the industrial park. Companies such as Caterpillar, Mississippi Polymers , CM Solutions and other manufacturers are already there. Chandler says having the fiber ready designation could help fill other available spaces, such as the former headquarters of Quad Graphics.

“What AT & T is announcing is arming us, giving us another tool in our toolbox to use when we are out selling these buildings and sites to potential manufacturers,” said Chandler.

Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin actually inked the agreement with AT & T last month.

“Anytime you’re dealing in technology, ever changing technology, the world we live in, adding fiber ready to our industrial park that enhances investment is just a win win and we say, thank you AT & T,” Mayor Irwin said.

There is no cost to the city, because AT & T paid for the upgrade.

Between 2012 and 2014 AT& T invested more than 950 million dollars in Mississippi.
