CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — Corinth wants to keep the cozy feel of its historic downtown areas. And at the same time, protect property values.

The city’s planning commission is recommending some changes for building rules in the Old Town District.

The rules would prohibit anything larger than two-family units, adopt stricter rules under a Neighborhood Conservation District and possibly expand the boundaries of the historic area.

The recommendations come after fires destroyed two buildings late last year.

Residents raised concerns about what might happen to the properties without some guidelines.

Aldermen may consider the planning commission’s proposals at their meeting Tuesday.
