STURGIS, Miss. (WCBI) – There’s been a lot of talk about today’s date, 12-12-12. We won’t see those digits in the date for at least a 100 years so many people mark the date by doing something special…like getting married.

The Day of Dozens. This is most likely the last time we’ll see a date in which all digits are the same.

12-12-12 will also mark the beginning of a new life together for Aubrey and Kristy Gibson who married on Wednesday.

“This is the date. We won’t have another 12-12-12 for another hundred years. I thought it was great how the bells were ringing at 12 o’clock in the background as we said I do and he pronounced us and the children were able to be here,” says the groom, Aubrey Gibson.

Kristy Moore Gibson has worked at West Oktibbeha County Elementary School for 15 years and decided she wanted her students to witness her wedding. The Gibsons met in July and thought this would be the perfect day to get married.

“He was in a rush to go ahead and I said no we don’t know yet but it was the right thing. Everything ran very smoothly and I loved the man so I had to get married to him,” says Moore-Gibson.

Moore-Gibson also used this as a learning opportunity.  Her students participated in a Wishing Well writing project after the ceremony. The couple says they’ll take an official honey moon in the spring but they have a few other things planned for the weekend.

“We’re going to probably go down to Mobile and visit – the USS Alabama – he wants to go to Alabama,” says Moore-Gibson.
“Aubrey: We’re probably going to Tupelo Car Museum on Friday probably and spend the day in Tupelo,” says Gibson.

In numerology, the number 12 is said to represent a complete cycle of experience.

The Gibsons say they are thankful to the school’s principal for allowing their special wedding ceremony.
