Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) — A Pickens County, Alabama couple escaped with their lives Tuesday, as the homeowner said a possible tornado passed right by their home, destroying most of their property.

It happened about 4:00. Homeowners Roland and Denise Driver told WCBI they were in their house when he saw a funnel that he described as “100 yards wide”.

He says the tornado dropped down and destroyed half of his home, ripping off the roof and tearing up walls.

The damage happened on County Road 49 just outside of Reform.

The couple was not injured.

The National Weather Service has yet to confirm if there was a tornado touchdown.
