COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)  – Police are hoping that a new initiative will help build rapport throughout the community.

The Columbus Police Department will be adding a new supervisor sticker to four of their cars. CPD tells us they want you to feel safer knowing that they are out on patrol.

Lt. Donnie Elkin says,”if  you have a complaint on an officer and you need to let the supervisor know because we will be able to handle it and take it to the chief. So we can get it handled that way.”

They hope to head off any future problems that may occur in a community that does not report an officer’s misconduct. They want you to allow the process to work after reporting it to one of four supervisors.

The supervisor stickers will make an appearance by late Monday afternoon.
