Video: Crowd Turns Out for Salazar Retirement Party

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – They were marking the end of an era at the Lowndes County Courthouse Thursday.

Judges, elected officials, courthouse employees, and county residents said their official good byes to retiring Circuit Clerk Haley Salazar.

After serving as Circuit Clerk for 24 years, and working in the Courthouse for over 30, Salazar decided it was time for a change of scenery.

“Well, I am definitely going to take it as it comes. I definitely will spend a lot more time with my family. I will spend a lot more time working with my church family. And I look forward to see what life has in store.”

Newly elected Circuit Clerk Teresa Barksdale will take office in January.
