OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI)-When their first effort to crack down on mischievous juveniles didn’t work, Okolona officials are taking a tougher approach.

Aldermen have passed a curfew ordinance that makes it a violation for anyone under the age of 18 to be out after hours and if they are, they must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 25.

Teens found in violation can be detained and their parents can face punishment in youth court.

City leaders opted for the tougher rules after a previous curfew law with the adult age at 18 handcuffed police when trying to enforce it.
