LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A man on death row for a Lowndes County murder wants a new trial, and hopes a judge will grant it.

Eddie Lee Howard was convicted in the 1992 murder of Georgia Kemp of Columbus.

The supreme court last year ordered a hearing to allow Howard to ask for a new trial, after new DNA evidence was discovered at the crime scene.

A bite mark expert took the stand, Wednesday.

Judge Lee Howard is presiding over the hearing.

It will resume Thursday at 9 a.m.
